Pride in Place – A New Opportunity for Bootle South

I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed as Chair of the Bootle South Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board.
This is a major opportunity for our community and one that genuinely has the potential to make a lasting difference to the people and places of Bootle South over the next decade.
Pride in Place is a long-term Government-backed programme that will see up to £20 million invested into the area over the next 10 years. More importantly though, this programme is designed to put local people at the centre of shaping that future.
For me personally, that is what matters most.
Throughout my years working within communities across Sefton, particularly through Veterans in Sefton, I have seen first-hand the strength, resilience and pride that already exists within Bootle. I have also seen the challenges many people face and how important it is that local people are genuinely listened to when decisions are being made about their communities.
This cannot simply be a programme done “to” people. It must be built with people.
The new Neighbourhood Board will play a key role in helping shape a shared vision for Bootle South — listening to residents, community groups, businesses, young people, faith groups and local organisations to identify what matters most and where investment can have the biggest impact.
Importantly, we want the Board itself to reflect the community it serves.
You do not need previous Board experience or formal qualifications to get involved. We want people with passion, lived experience, local knowledge and a genuine desire to improve the area for future generations.
This is about creating opportunities, building stronger communities, supporting local pride and ensuring people feel heard.
Over the coming weeks, applications will open for local residents and stakeholders to become part of the Independent Neighbourhood Board. I would strongly encourage anyone who cares about Bootle South and wants to help shape its future to consider applying.
This is a chance to create something positive together.
I am really looking forward to working alongside local people, partners and organisations as we move into this exciting next chapter for Bootle South.
